after little consideration i've decided to try to run everyday. The United States Running Streak Association, Inc. defines the running streak as "running at least one continuous mile within each calendar day under one's own body power (withoutthe utilization of any type of health or mechanical aid other than prosthetic devices). Running under one's own power can occur on either the roads, a track, over hill and dale, oron a treadmill. Running cannot occur through the use of canes, crutches or banisters, orreliance on pools or aquatic decices to create artificial buoyancy."
i know of only one person who is doing this right now, well, make it 2; i have somehow managed to talk erin into at least attempting to do this (her streak now stands at 1 mine at 3) my friend dave from careersports, whom also makes a great training partner, is how i heard about this little club....he's now at 109 days in a row.
just to give you a little perspective the holder of the longest streak is mark holder of lancaster, ca how has now run for an amazing 14,101 days = 38 years 221 days! another item to note is that the USRSA will not even recognize your streak on their website until you've reach 1 year. i've told a few people about this already and they ask, what keeps you from lying and telling them you've already been running for a year - unbeleivable....i would only be doing myself a disservice...happy running.
